Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: E Wind Stength: 15 Surf / Sea State: Big Air Temperature: 17 Sea Temperature: 17 Weather: Sunny Max Speed: 24.5 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 51.2 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Down at the Dip by 9.30 to have breakfast in the van with Mag,it's nice to
park for free after we got a £40 parking ticket at the cliff car park
yesterday !!!! that will teach to get back late from our walk !!!!! As high
tide was approaching and the wind onshore sail choice and getting off the
beach was going to be a challenge.Being first there and with my meter
reading 14/18 mph I went for 7.5 on the Xantos. With not much beach left and
a big shore dump I managed to get off the beach okay and headed off on a
broad reach to the pier which was a big mistake as the farther I went
along the coast the lighter the wind became !!!! on turning I realised it
was going to be difficult getting back.It would have been fine if I was
fully powered up but I was under and with the tide and waves holding me
back spent over an hour beating back, which was okay going out to the
shipping channel in a big sea !!! I met up with my mates at the ferry beach
and after a short break played in the waves in the river mouth including
some long blasts out to sea to show the yachts just now slow they go !!!!
Then as the tide dropped I had over an hour reaching up and down the flat
water in the river where I recorded my best speed of the day.So a great
4hrs 52 mins on the water in the sunshine covering over 50 n/miles with a
top speed of 24.5 not bad considering I was abit underpowered all day !!!!!
